Interactive focusing

Between 23 and 25th May in Warsaw we were holding therapeutic workshops – ‘Interactive Focusing’ led by the outstanding psychotherapist and psychologist from Belgium – Claude Missiaen. As a part of improving psychotherapeutic skills, a strong representation of our team took part in the described training.
The workshops lasted 3 days and were intensive. They were based almost exclusively on very practical skills allowing for advanced use of focusing in therapy with the client.

So, what is focusing? Focusing is a method of work that allows you to awaken the awareness of your body and allows you gradually regulate your emotions positively. It may not sound simple but focusing allows you to listen to internal sensations and feelings within the body with empathy and calmness. Learning this outlook gives the client an extremely valuable ability to recognize feelings and sensations in their body.

Thanks to this form of work, the therapist, together with the client, develop an approach in which signals from the body bring very valuable and extremely useful tips that allow them to discover and get to know themselves more deeply. All therapists at the IM-MED Centre are professionally trained in the use of this method in their daily therapeutic practice with patients. Thanks to this, we use the latest achievements in the field of humanistic-experiential psychotherapy.
